David Aregood is this month’s featured graduate. He is an “old timer” now. David graduated way, way back in October of 1998. He drives for McElroy Truck Lines and has ever since he graduated. He did receive 3 offers from reputable trucking firms, but went with McElroy.

McElroy Truck Lines, Inc. is a flatbed truckload carrier that operates in the Southwest, Southeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. Their corporate headquarters is located in Cuba, Alabama. They have been in business since the 1960’s and primarily haul building products. One of the most unique things they do is guarantee all of their drivers will be home every weekend. They have many dedicated and regional operations that also allow drivers to get home during the week as well. They are a family owned business with high Christian morals and ethics.

McElroy Truck Lines provides its drivers with some really cool perks that include; permanently assigned late model equipment, driver referral bonus, vacation pay, holiday pay, safety bonus, performance bonus, minimum pay per load, health, life, dental, vision, and disability insurance, 401k retirement plan with matching contributions, tarp pay, breakdown, layover, and detention pay, and a team oriented family atmosphere. Cool huh? You can understand why David has stuck with them.

Before trucking, David gave the U.S. Air force a try. After twenty years of taking orders he decided to retire from military life and only take orders from Paula, his loving wife. He has a daughter that occasionally orders her daddy around, but we all know how that goes.

David decided that trucking was the post military career he wanted to pursue. He started making some calls and discovered that National Truck Drivers School was the only one who returned his request for additional information prior to enrolling. He also liked the fact that the Veterans Administration helped him out with the tuition. David did struggle some with the backing techniques required to earn a class A CDL. He was afforded ample practice and instruction on our backing pads, and he finally got it. The rest is history! David loves seeing something different every day as his favorite thing about trucking. We think he likes the money too!

David, you make us proud!
